Vijayapura: Accusing the Congress of neglecting the Muslims, Former Union Minister and JD (S) State President, C. M. Ibrahim has said that the Congress has not given due position to the Muslims that they deserve.

Addressing mediapersons before going for the campaign of the party candidates in the ongoing City Corporation elections on Monday October 24, he said that the Congress has used the Muslims for political gains.

“We all know that veteran Congress Leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad quit the party and formed his own party. The Congress Leaders claim that the party gave so much to Azad and yet he quit the party. But my question is, what Sonia Gandhi did for the party that she was made President of the Congress. Azad spent whole life for the party but Sonia did nothing. Just because she married Rajiv Gandhi, she was made President of the Congress,” he said.

Claiming that the Congress has lost its credibility and trust of the people, he said that the party is less popular than the regional party like the JD (S).

Ibrahim also claimed that today, JD(S) stands first in the State in popularity, BJP second while the Congress is at the third position.

“The Congress is getting some fake trend shown to the people that is way ahead of the BJP but in reality, the JD(S) is doing better than both national parties in the State,” he said.

He said that the JD(S) has decided to give priority to health, education and irrigation.

“We will upgrade the schools and colleges of the State like AAP did in Delhi. We will also open referral hospitals in all the panchayats of the State to provide better and free medical facilities. We will grant adequate funds for the completion of irrigation projects of the State,“ he said.

Ibrahim said that the party will come to power in Karnataka in the coming Assembly polls.

In order to prepare the party for the coming elections, Former Chief Minister, H. D. Kumaraswamy will hold a tour in the old Mysuru region while he along with MLC Prajwal Revanna, Nikhil Kumarswamy and other Leaders will tour the North Karnataka region.

On the issue of the Government banning PFI, he wondered why similar action was not taken against the RSS.

He however made it clear that he was not against the banning of any outfit including the RSS as only some people associated with the party could have done wrong, for which entire organisations cannot be blamed.

Asserting that regional parties are essential for protecting and preserving the democratic values of the country, Ibrahim said that the JD (S) will be holding meeting with other regional parties to form an alliance for the coming Lok Sabha polls.

“Kumaraswamy and I will be meeting Telangana CM Chandrashekhar Rao, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for forming a bigger alliance.
