Vijayanagar: Tourism Minister C.P. Yogeshwar said that the Karnataka government had planned to develop the World Heritage Site of Hampi and Anjanadri at a cost of Rs500 crore.
Speaking to the reporters after holding a review meeting of his department’s key officers at Kamalapur on Wednesday, the Minister said “We are going to establish a three-star hotel on 200 acres of government land near Hampi Zoo at a cost of around Rs 20 crore. We also intend to construct a helipad, a theme park, and a hostel with a capacity of 1,000 students. Students interested in studying Hampi history will be able to stay in our hostel for a very reasonable rate.’
The Minister also said that Hampi Master Plan was being revised to give more focus on infrastructure development to attract tourists.
“The revision of the plan would be completed in two months. The plan encourages homestays as they provide homely accommodation to the tourists without harming the environment,” he stressed.
