Bengaluru: Eleven members have been elected unopposed to the Legislative Council. The results have been officially confirmed by the Secretary of the State Assembly and Election Officer, MK Vishalakshi.
The Congress party secured seven seats, the BJP won three seats, and the JD(S) obtained one seat.
The newly elected members from the Congress party are Dr. Yathindra, Ivan D’Souza, K. Govindaraj, Jagadev Guthedar, Balkis Banu, NS Bhosaraju, and A. Vasanthakumar. The BJP’s representatives are CT Ravi, N. Ravikumar, and Mule Maruti Rao. The JD(S) representative is T. N. Javarai Gowda.
Initially, elections were scheduled for June 13 to fill the 11 Legislative Council seats from the State Assembly. However, with only 12 candidates submitting nomination papers for these positions, voting became unnecessary. Asif Pasha’s nomination was rejected due to insufficient indicators, leaving 11 candidates in the race.
Despite the option to withdraw nomination papers until 3 pm on Thursday, June 6, none of the candidates chose to do so. Consequently, all 11 candidates were declared victorious without contest.
