Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked three customs officials in connection with red sanders smuggling. They are also charged with taking bribes to the tune of Rs. 8 lakh.
It is found that the red sanders was shipped after declaring them as industrial pipe spares between June and July, 2021. A FIR has been registered after CBI conducted a preliminary inquiry revealed smuggling links between the accused, Venkatesh C. and Ananthapadmanabha Rao K., both Superintendent of Customs at Air Cargo Complex in Devanahalli, and Customs inspector Ravinder Pawar.
Two others arrested for conniving with the trio are Satish Kumar T. and Nazeeb Z.
