Bengaluru: Home minister Dr G Parameshwar said in the Legislative Council on Thursday, November 19, that three of his cabinet members and two MLAs have received life threats from the underworld.
Parameshwar said that Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B Ramanath Rai, Health Minister UT Khader and Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Fisheries K Abhayachandra Jain and MLAs Haladi Srinivasa Shetty and Sambaji Patil received threats from Ravi Poojary. Apart from them, businessmen Vijay Sankeshwar and Siddaratha R. Mehta also received life threats from him. The state government has sought the help of Interpol to nab Ravi Poojary and a red- corner notice has also been issued against him. Stern action will be initiated against him once arrested, he said.
He said 61 cases of life threats and extortion stand registered against Ravi Poojari. As many as 60 cases have been registered against Bannanje Raja in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district police stations. Another underworld fugitive Yogesh Bangera has eight criminal cases against him.
