Bengaluru: “Almost 50% of vaccination centres in the State have stopped working due to lack of vaccines. The report states that from past 14 days an approximation of only 2.56 lakh doses have been administered and this is worrisome,” said Opposition Leader from Congress Siddaramaiah.

Questioning whether the Vaccination Mela of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was just a publicity stunt at a press meet here on Wednesday July 14, Siddaramaiah said that only 20 among 100 arriving to centres are been vaccinated. The doctors from Helath Department have informed us that not even 20% of the demand for vaccines has been fulfilled and State Health Minister and Chief Minister both are pointing towards Delhi, he alleged and added that despite over ten letters by the State Government to the Centre regarding the sand for vaccines there has been no response from the Union Government.

Informing that among 8500 vaccine centres in the State most of them are located in rural area, Siddaramaiah said that there has been allegations that the available vaccines at the rural centres are being utilsed by the influential people and politicians.

The Opposition Leader said, “As per the current estimation, 4.97 crore people in the State are vaccinated.” With the total of two doses, nearly 9.6 crore vaccines are essential. But Central Government has supplied only 2.6 crore vaccines till date and this shows the severity of the situation,” said Siddaramaiah

Stating that Central Government had made a promise to provide 51.6 crore Covid vaccination throughout the country by the end of July and to reach the figure 70 lakh vaccination per day needs to be undertaken, Siddaramaiah said that currently only 40 lakh vaccines are provided. He expressed concern that till date only 38.5 crore vaccination has been given with passing of each day number of vaccination given decreasing.
