Bengaluru: On the evening of Monday January 3, an exploding LPG cylinder inside a two-storey building in West Bengaluru’s Attiguppe injured seven people.
According to sources, the building belonged to Ramakka, a 65-year-old woman who lived on the first floor with Anitha (31) and Rachana (21). The family of Sukumar (48), who lived with Harsha (41), and their daughters Ganashri (13) and Hemeshwar (7), had rented the ground floor.
According to police, Harsha went to cook at 8.45 pm and smelt the leaking LPG cylinder. She alerted her family, who rushed out and stood near the entrance door. Ramakka and her family came from upstairs as a result of the commotion.
The explosion of the LPG cylinder has been triggered from a lighted lamp. All the seven sustained injuries to their face, head, hands and legs. For treatment, they were rushed to ESI and Victoria hospitals.
Darshan, who lives across the street from Ramakka’s building, called police to report the fire. Later, he joined with other neighbours to put out the fire before fire fighters arrived.
The second LGP cylinder blast reported from the area on Monday has prompted Chandra Layout police to open an investigation.
