Bengaluru: As many as 72 staff of the Ramanagara District Police including Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Girish have tested positive for Covid – 19.
It can be recalled that recently Congress State Unit carried out a Padayatra in the district demanding the implementation of the Mekedatu Irrigation Project across the river Cauvery.
According to the authorities, among these 72 police, 58 were part of the police security for the padayatra.
42 police from Mysuru, and 9 police from Tumakuru who were part of the padayatra duty also tested positive.
It can be recalled that Congress State Unit was under fire for holding padayatra amid Covid – 19 surge.
