Bengaluru: The 86th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held in Haveri from September 23 to 25, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He asked the organisers to use environmentally friendly flexes to make the literary meet green. He encouraged volunteers from each taluk in Haveri district to participate in the event, saying that local people should be involved.
Bommai instructed officials to accommodate delegates and visitors in hotels, hostels, residential schools, community halls, marriage halls, and other places. He also advised that guests be accommodated in Hubballi and Davanagere.
Tent houses similar to those used at Uttar Pradesh’s Kumbh Melas can also be considered, with a blueprint drawn up. The State budget included Rs. 20 Crore for the Sammelana, he noted.
Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekar Kambar, Kannada and Culture Minister Sunil Kumar, Ministers Shivaram Hebbar and BC Patil, and President of Kannada Sahithya Parishath Mahesh Joshi were present for the preparatory meeting on Saturday.
