Bengaluru: After a long effort for a permanent location, the Unique Identification Authority of India’s (UIDAI) Regional Office for South India, situated in Bengaluru, is considering relocating to Tamil Nadu.

The UIDAI office is currently located on Race Course Road in Khanija Bhavan’s South Wing. According to sources, the regional office, which has been situated in Bengaluru for around ten years, has been looking for five acres of land for the past three years but has been unsuccessful.

Enrolments for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep are handled by the UIDAI. According to sources, the daily visitor count is between 300 and 400 and there is need for a larger space.

The country has eight regional offices, with plans to establish state-wise centres in the future. Tamil Nadu has offered land to UIDAI for the purpose of establishing a state-level office.
