Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Monday organised a rally against the demonetisation of high-value currency notes in the country. The KPCC demanded the intervention of President Pranab Mukherjee to ensure that the Central Government rolled back the move to mitigate the problems of common man, poor and daily wagers in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Working President, KPCC, said the abrupt demonetisation of high-value currency notes has made lives of the poor and small businesspersons difficult. “These people, instead of going to work, have to wait in queues in front of banks and ATMs to withdraw money. This initiative has made many poor, hawkers and small business people lose their livelihood but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been telling lies to cover up the disadvantages of demonetization,’’ alleged Dinesh Gundu Rao.

Blaming Narendra Modi for “making false assurances” during the last Lok Sabha elections, the KPCC working president said Modi had promised to bring back black money dumped in foreign banks but nothing had been done even after two-and-half years of his coming to power at the Centre. “Instead of bringing back the black money from foreign banks, the prime minister has been busy telling lies to the people of the country,’’ the KPCC working president said.

Commenting on BJP National President Amit Shah’s comment on Karnataka, he demanded that Shah produced documentary evidence in support of his claim that Karnataka was the most corrupt state in the country. “I want the Central Government to release the grants meant for Karnataka without any delay to take up developmental works in the state,’’ he urged.

Speaking on the occasion, Rizwan Arshad, MLC, said some of the industrialists and well-wishers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi were aware of the demonetisation move, well in advance. “BJP leaders claim the demonetisation of high-value currency notes was a sudden decision of the Central Government but it’s an open secret now who were pre-aware about it ,’’ alleged Arshad.

Many Congress leaders including Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy, Minister for Infrastructure Development Roshan Baig, Minister for Agriculture Krishna Byregowda and MLA N A Haris participated in the rally taken out from Town Hall to Mysore Bank Circle. They have submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner V Shanker urging President Pranab Mukherjee’s intervention to ensure the Central Government revoked the demonetisation move.

Modi fan on Hunger Protest!

In view of the bandh called by the opposition parties against spiking high denomination currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 and in the aftermath of demonstrations across the nation, PM Modi’s bhakt in Mysore went on a unique hunger protest to counter “Aaakrosh Diwas” on November 28.
Social activist Manoj Kumar, a resident of Lashkar Mohalla in the city sat on a hunger protest in front of Gandhi Statue near district court premises. He was holding a banner which read, “The prime minister trying to root out corruption must be supported by all”. He said his hunger protest would be daylong and called upon likeminded people to support demonetization.

The lone man drew enough public attention whenever he tried to sip water to quench his thirst!

Railway goods-shed lorry owners support bandh call:

The Railway Goods-shed Lorry Owners’ Association supported the opposition sponsored bandh call and came out in the open venting out their anger against demonetisation.
Bringing to a halt their trucks meant for transporting construction items and state government food and civil supply department items meant for public distribution near highway circle, lorry owners’ union members voiced their support for Aakrosh Diwas.

Contractors are making payment in cheques and the daily wagers are facing a lot of hardships, they complained.

They shouted slogans against the union government by parking their trucks on the road side.
