AAP Warns BMRCL: Open Double Decker Flyover or We Will

Aap Warns Bmrcl Open Double Decker Flyover Or We Will

“Open the double decker flyover within a week or we will open it for the public,” Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have warned the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) over the delay in opening the double decker flyover connecting Ragigudda and the Central Silk Board (CSB).

The 3.2 km double decker flyover consists of an elevated Metro corridor and an elevated road. AAP state spokesperson Ashok Mruthyunjaya, along with other AAP leaders, staged a protest on Monday near the flyover, demanding that BMRCL open it for motorists due to growing traffic woes at the CSB junction.

“Though the flyover was ready 15 days ago, it is yet to be opened for public use. The double decker flyover will ease traffic congestion at the CSB junction, which is a major bottleneck,” said Mruthyunjaya. He added, “It is wrong to wait for a VIP to come and inaugurate it. If the flyover is not inaugurated by next week, we will open it for the public.”

AAP leaders alleged that BMRCL officials are waiting for the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister’s availability to inaugurate the flyover. BMRCL managing director Maheshwar Rao told The Indian Express that the flyover will be opened to the public only after the final checks are completed.

The double decker flyover is designed to mitigate traffic woes, with Metro corridors from R V Road to Bommasandra (Yellow line) and CSB to K R Puram station (Blue line). The flyover accommodates motor vehicles at the first level and Metro trains at the second level. The ramps, constructed by Afcons Infrastructure Limited, connect various key areas, easing traffic at the CSB junction.
