Bengaluru: Home Minister Araga Jnanendra warned the police on Wednesday May 19 that the government will take strict action against police officers who are found to be involved in criminal activities.

He was speaking during a review meeting of the Bengaluru District police. “Who will protect the people and provide justice if those who detect crimes get involved in criminal activities? There is no way to tolerate such police officers. Every police officer must maintain the public’s respect and trust in the police department, “he said.

He also said that there are many complaints in Bengaluru District regarding red sander smuggling, illegal sand mining, and active drug peddler networks, and urged the cops to put an end to those activities. “There have also been reports of dance bars and gambling dens operating in the region, as well as human trafficking and prostitution rings. I would like you to put an end to everything,” he stressed.

In the discussion, the Home Minister is said to have brought up the issue of conversion in some parts of the district. He urged police officials to consider cases of forced conversions and luring people and to book those involved in the activity under the provisions of the new anti-conversion law. He also told them to stop transporting and slaughtering cattle illegally.

He also told the police to conduct a station-level study of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Rohingya Muslims and submit a report so they may be deported. The conference was attended by ADGP (Law & Order) Alok Kumar, Central Range IGP Chandrashekar, Superintendent of Police Dr Vamshi Krishna, and other senior officers.
