New Delhi/Bengaluru: An active member of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was arrested by NIA officers in connection to the Bengaluru module case on Tuesday, December 17.
The arrested person has been identified as Mosaraf Hossain, a resident of Murshidabad in West Bengal. The NIA will seek a transit warrant against him today when Hossain appears before the NIA Special Court in Kolkata.
It can be recalled that several hand grenades, grenade caps, IEDs, one 9mm live round, an air gun, and suspicious explosive powder had been seized by officials from a house in Chikkabanavara, Bengaluru on July 8. The house had been rented by JMB members.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Hossain was an active member of JMB which has been officially designated as a terrorist organisation by the Indian Government.
An official statement said that Hossain and Asif Iqbal had visited Bengaluru in March 2018. During his visit, Hossain and at least five other JMB members raised funds for the organisation by carrying out violent acts of robbery. The five other persons accused in the case have been identified as Jahidul Islam, Kador Kazi, Habibur Rahman, Adil Seikh, and Najir Sheikh.
