After 2 years, BBMP gives permission to celebrate Karaga

Bengaluru: After two years, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued permission for the public to celebrate Karaga this year. The main Karaga procession will be held on March 8.

Due to Covid 19 – related restrictions, the Karaga procession was held in a simple manner in 2020 and 2021.

MLC P. R. Ramesh, who is also the Chairperson of the Karaga Reception Committee had requested the State Government to issue permission for this year’s celebration. Based on his letter now the government has issued permission.

It can be recalled that in this year’s BBMP budget Rs. 1.55 Crore grant has been allocated for the Karaga celebrations.
