Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on Friday, December 20, informed that the journalists from Kerala, who were detained by the police upon entry into Mangaluru city, have been released.
Speaking to the media in the Dollars Colony area, BSY said that the police have informed him that the six to seven journalists from Kerala, who were detained in Mangaluru, were released within half an hour.
It can be recalled that around seven journalists were detained by the Mangaluru police when they tried to enter the city after curfew was imposed. They had come to the city to cover the ground situation.
This action of the police sparked widespread protests in Kerala and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan even wrote to his counterpart in Karnataka, BSY, to ask for the release of the journalists.
It may be noted that there have been rumours that people have been coming from Kerala to indulge in violent protests in Mangaluru.
