Bengaluru: Ambergris which is extensively used in the cosmetics industry, especially in China is very valuable. Now, the Malleshwaram Police has seized Rs. 17 crore worth of Ambergris and arrested five persons.
According to the police, these five persons were arrested while they were trying to smuggle the Ambergris in a car. Police have also seized 3 kilograms of Ambergris from the accused.
Among the arrested three are from Mandya District while two are from the Bengaluru City.
The main accused is still at large. Three police teams have been formed to arrest him.
According to the sources, the arrested were trying to sell the Ambergris with the hope of getting good commission.
For the last few days, the State is witnessing several incidents of Ambergris smuggling.
