Bidar: Ashok Kheny, clarifying on the issue, said that he did not make the statement with any wrong motives and tendered an apology for his remarks on farmer suicides.
“I apologise if the farmer community is hurt by my remarks. I have a language problem. I cannot speak Kannada properly but I am always with farmers. No hesitation to seek apology from farmers, they have always taught me to seek pardon,” he said in a press conference.

Bengaluru: Courting yet another controversy Ashok Kheny, MLA from Bidar South and the Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) came under fire for his controversial remarks over farmer sucides. He was quoted as saying that Alcoholism and gambling is main reason for farmer suicides.
Enraged by his comment Kannada activists ransacked toll booths on the NICE road in Bengaluru. They condemned the statement and sought an unconditional apology from him.
Meanwhile the CPM slammed the MLA and said, “He is a land grabber, he has no moral rights to comment on farmers.”
