Bengaluru: The Health and Family Welfare Department has directed all district and taluk health officials to be on high alert till the completion of the election and attend promptly to the needs of polling personnel, including security personnel.

Health and Family Welfare Secretary Ajay Seth has directed the agencies in charge of 104 health advisory services and 108 emergency response services to sensitise their personnel to attend to calls from polling personnel without delay.

Medicine kits should be made available to polling personnel. One kit should be provided to each polling party apart from 10% extra kits to the Returning Officers by May 5 for inclusion in the polling material.

Each polling booth should be mapped to the nearest government health facility and contact details of the in-charge medical officer should be provided to the Returning Officer, the circular said. A team comprising three doctors, five nurses and two pharmacists and an ambulance should be located at each mustering and counting centre. The team should have basic drugs and diagnostic equipment with it, the circular added.
