Bengaluru: The Malleswaram police probing the leakage of the geography question paper of the examination for Assistant Professor vacancies at government degree colleges informed that the full question paper was supplied to accused Soumya R. (32), a guest lecturer, in a sealed cover.
Soumya is alleged to have received the sealed cover from a relative of Dr. H. Nagaraja, who is currently the Registrar of Karnataka University in Dharawad. For sharing the question paper, the professor has been arrested. According to sources, Nagaraja’s relative has been questioned and her statement has been recorded.
The professor revealed to police that he had kept the question paper on the table in his house. He said that Soumya was a regular visitor to his home and had taken the set of question papers from his table without his knowledge. However, after an investigation, the police found that the question paper was given to her by Nagaraja. The professor wanted to help Soumya who was his PhD student, informed police.
According to sources, Soumya did not share the questions with anyone. However, during the last 30 minutes of the exam, she shared a few questions with one of her best friends, who was nervous about the exam. Her friend shared the questions with one of her male friends.
The questions are said to have gone viral on WhatsApp only after the exam was completed. Following this, candidates who took the exam went to the KEA and filed a complaint with the Malleshwaram police.
