Bengaluru: A driver of a van carrying cash to an ATM ran away with the vehicle and then fled with the cash trunk containing Rs 20 lacs on Sunday evening.
The police have identified the driver as Ceban Hussain Majumder (27) from Assam working for Secure India Company in Bengaluru. According to the police sources, Hussain had fled away with the vehicle from Chalaghatta of Old Airport Police Station limits. The police said that late in the evening the vehicle was found abandoned near Yamalur but the trunk box containing Rs 20 lakh was missing.
“A case of theft was registered on Sunday. Today morning the box was found near Bellandur and all the money is intact and recovered. The driver is Ceban Hussain from Assam and was working for Secure India for the last six weeks. He is absconding. We are trying to secure him,’’ Dr M B Boralingaiah, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru South-East.
