Bengaluru: The One Million New Votes campaign aimed at increasing citizens’ participation in the forthcoming Assembly elections was launched on Wednesday.
The drive by the Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) in association with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA) will ensure a large number of people sign up as registered voters by reaching out to them at corporate campuses.
Rama N S and Bhawesh Kunar from ELCIA urged the companies to spearhead voter registration drivers by setting up helpdesks.
K Natesh, assistant commissioner (elections), BBMP, said the ELCIA campus in Electronics City has taken measures for registration and the civic agency is providing the support mechanism.
Representatives from ELCIA member companies will spread the message, ‘Democracy is built on your vote, become a registered voter’. Along with education institutions and residential communities, B.PAC is focusing on tech campuses and business parks.
