Bengaluru: A Bangladeshi national who lived in Bengaluru with fake documents proving that he is an Indian was nabbed by the authorities finally.

The Immigration officers were shocked to find out that a Bangladeshi citizen named Mohammed Ali Sheik had easily misled police to get the passport. Mohammed Alom Sheik, basically from Khulna of Bangladesh, was residing in a rented house in Mallasandra near T.Dasarahalli and had all fake documents to prove himself as an ‘Indian citizen’.

Alom Sheik was about to travel to Bangladesh on August 30 through Haridaspura. However, investigation officers seized his passport (no. 3958138) and sent him back to Bengaluru to provide original documents, which he never did. The investigating officer Bissey Jussey collected pieces of evidence to prove that Alom Sheik is a Bangladeshi citizen. He also lodged a complaint in Bagalagunte police station on December 4.

The police filed an FIR against the culprit for cheating (IPC 420), sign forgery (IPC 471), violation of foreigners Registration Act, Foreigners’ Act and Passport Act. They have also informed that the person is in Bengaluru even now.

“He successfully created election ID card, Adhaar no., documents like birth certificate, school admission certificate of a school from Kolkata and education qualifications. He applied for the passport in June using all these. After observing it, Passport office officials sent it to the next level,” said an official.

The culprit cheated the police officer who went to check his address, background etc. Now, he has revealed everything to the immigration officers during the investigation. As a result, a notice has been served to the police who visited his house and action will be taken, said an officer.

Alom Sheik used to work as superintendent in many construction-level buildings and used to also collect rag from ragpickers and transported it. This time he wanted to meet his wife and children who are in Bangladesh.
