Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) in collaboration with Janaagraha, launched the ‘MyCityMyBudget’ programme to collect citizen input and ideas ahead of the Budget 2022-23.
The campaign will focus on gathering budget inputs, with a special emphasis on footpaths, public toilets, and parks.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, who launched the initiative, urged citizens to submit their suggestions. “Compared to other cities, Bengaluru has seen a higher level of citizen participation. When citizens participate in the budget process, they have a greater understanding of the process and its complexities. It will also help in prioritising civic issues that can be addressed with the existing budget,” he said.
The programme, which began in 2015, has received a good response, with over 10,000 inputs collected for the budget year 2021-22.
Citizens can submit suggestions at the City’s ‘Budget Bus’ or online at https://mycitymybudget.in. Suggestions will be received until March 15.
