Bengaluru: One more scam has hit the BBMP and this time, the state urban development department has received complaints against 31 officers, mostly engineers who are still working in the BBMP despite their transfers.
The department has now directed the BBMP to look into the issue.
According to the sources in the BBMP, the said 31 officers joined the BBMP service under deputation about three years ago. They were deputed for three years and their term was over in May, 2018. The BBMP had then transferred them in the same month. However, what was shocking is that 21 out of the 31 officers, most of whom are Assistant Executive Engineer, refused to move out.
“They are using political influence to continue as they want to remain in Bengaluru and work in the engineering section of the BBMP because this section is called the gold mine, ” allege sources.
Another source, on conditions of anonymity said that evenyone loves to serve Bengaluru through the BBMP.
According to the officials, all these officers have been directed to relieve their posts from immediate effect. “We will initiate action,” informed urban development sources.
