Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to install speed regulators on 588 of its garbage compactors in the aftermath of a recent road accident in which a two-wheeler rider was killed by a speeding city garbage truck.
The speed regulators (governors) will be installed to limit vehicle speeds to 35 kmph.
Drivers will be given basic skill development training. Apart from this, the BBMP intends to strengthen vehicle monitoring and driver skills. In this regard, the truck drivers’ physical health, ability to control speed and eyesight will be assessed.
