Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to issue digital numbers all properties in the city that have PID or Property Identification Number, including the roads too.
A decision in this regard has been taken in a consultative committee meeting on the implementation of ambitious Smart City project.
As per the plan, the BBMP has decided to launch a cloud-based system where all the property and road numbers will be stored using the GPS technology. “Within a year we want to implement this scheme. Once this scheme is implemented, we can resolve a number of issues including cheating, multiple RTCs, property tax evasion etc,” said an officer who is part of this exercise.
Meanwhile, in a big boost to the BBMP finance, property tax to the tune of Rs.1,700 crores has been collected in the first half of the financial year 2017-18.
“It will be a record compared to the previous years. Last year in this period BBMP was able to collect only Rs.1,450 crores in this period,” he said.
