Bengaluru: The panic of non-availability of vaccines has become so widespread among the Bengalureans is that it’s not only Covid hospitalisation they are looking for elsewhere, but have moved to nearby districts for vaccination too.
According to reliable sources, the Bengalureans thronged the vaccination centres of districts of Kolar, Mysuru, Davangere, Chikkaballapur and Ramanagara among others. This left the locals angry and that is when respective District administrations and the Health Minister Dr Sudhakar was made aware of the issue.
This panic for vaccination is between the age group of 18 – 44 years, the drive for which began in Bengaluru on Monday. Even, BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has admitted that jabs available at the BBMP limits us not enough and more vaccines are required for the actual objective to be fulfilled.
While obtaining vaccinations from rural areas is not illegal, health experts are concerned that it could have an effect on vaccination rates in those areas.
“Bengaluru Rural vaccines are for people living there. Let’s not take it away from us,” tweeted a netizen showing his distress over the incident.
