Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) cleared trespassers from a 22-gunta public piece of land worth Rs. 30 Crore on Tuesday as part of its ongoing demolition drive.
There have been allegations that encroachers on BDA land on Alahalli Survey number 4/1 in JP Nagar 9th Phase 1st Block have set up businesses by constructing temporary sheds. Under heavy police security, officials arrived at the scene armed with orders from the BDA Commissioner and demolished 6 temporary sheds.
BDA Chairman S. R. Vishwanath recently directed officials to initiate steps to reclaim the land from encroachers.
Responding to the developments he said that claiming that land grabbers had encroached on BDA land using fake NOCs with the help of some officials. He warned that both the erring officials and squatters who had illegally taken over public land will face legal action.
He also warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who did not voluntarily return BDA land.
