Bengaluru: In a tragic accident, two died and five others got injured at the Khambatki tunnel in the Bhuinj area when the driver lost control of the car on the morning of Monday January 30. The accident also injured a girl who is 1.5 years old.
According to sources, the Saraf family from Pune had gone to Gokarna Mahabaleshwar. Their car was involved in an accident in the Khambatki tunnel on the way back to Pune from the trip. The car slammed into the roadside embankment when the driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle.
Two persons died on spot and five others sustained serious injuries and were taken to Joglekar Hospital in Shirwal.
There was a traffic jam in the Khambatki tunnel following the incident. The Bhuinj police arrived on the spot, cleared the traffic, removed the crashed car, and took the injured people to the hospital.
