Bengaluru: The Akhila Karnataka Hindu Temples Archakas – Agamikas and Upadhivanthas Federation has appealed to the Government to ban the use of mobile phones in temples under the jurisdiction of the Religious Endowment Department.

Union President K. S. Dikshith met Minister Shashikala Jolle at Vidhana Soudha on Saturday December 16. The team said, obscene ring tunes in the midst of religious rituals are annoying. There have also been instances of taking pictures of girls while meditating, they noted.

“In addition, photos of the deity are being taken with their backs on the sanctorum. Using mobile phones while performing poojau, homa and havana will result in loss of concentration. For all these reasons, the use of mobile phones in temples should be banned, they urged.
