Bengaluru: Two persons died on spot after a garbage truck belonging to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on National Highway 207 near Hulikunte Gate on the outskirts of the City.

The deceased have been identified as R. Maruthi (35) and M. Mahesh (35), both residents of Maralukuntte in the Nelamangala Taluk near Sompura. The truck driver was caught 15 km from the scene of the accident, near Thyamgondalu. The victims were on a two-wheeler when the accident happened at around 4.30 pm.

According to sources, the villagers held a protest and demanded the closure of MSGP Waste Tech Park, where garbage is regularly deposited. The villagers who first refused to allow police to move the body said that the BBMP trucks on the highways are being driven recklessly, causing similar incidents.
