Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has promised to file a police complaint by the end of this week in response to pressure to act against illegal flexes that are seen throughout the City.
The assurance was made after several political figures began erecting huge flex boards, which have been posing threat to both motorists and pedestrians.
“We have already warned them against installing flexes. Some of them have disregarded us. As a result, we have decided to take legal action,” said BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath. He also said that an FIR will be lodged against violators.
He said that this week, the civic body will file a police complaint.
According to the High Court’s order, no advertisement boards or flexes can be erected within BBMP limits. Ironically, many of the flexes that have come up in the City belong to the elected representatives. There are more than 1,000 flexes in places like Vijayanagara and Govindarajanagar. A few of them are blocking the footpaths.
