Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is probing into the PSI CET scam arrested Rachana Hanumant, who secured the top rank in the women’s quota category in the PSI recruitment exam held in October.
Rachana is accused of illegally tampering with the OMR answers, informed CID officials. Sources claim that Rachana has been evading arrest for the past three months by frequently changing places.
A team of CID sleuths was deployed to the area on Friday August 26 and arrested Rachana after receiving information that she was hiding out close to the Hiroli Checkpost in the Maharashtra-bordering Aland taluk.
Rachana was questioned before being brought before the JMFC Court on Saturday. She was taken to the State capital on Saturday night by CID officers who obtained a transit warrant after learning that a FIR had been filed against her in the City.
