Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai slammed Congress for organising protests at 300 places throughout the City against the state government over the corruption issue, saying that the party was trying to shut down the Lokayukta to cover up its scams. He said that Congress leaders have no moral standing to speak out against corruption. On Monday, Congress members held protests with the banner “Stop Corruption, Save Bengaluru” at several locations throughout the City.
He alleged that Congress is the root of all corruption. Rs. 800 Crore went to party leaders while Siddaramiah was Chief Minister. He claimed that they had engaged in corruption and were now trying to hide it by blaming the BJP. “Let Congress leaders give details to the Lokayukta,” he said.
Those who tried to end the Lokayukta are now lecturing on how to avoid corruption. Cases had been filed against 59 people, including the then chief minister Siddaramaiah. The Anti-Corruption Bureau was created as a response to this. B reports were submitted in cases against them. All those cases have now been submitted to the Lokayukta, he claimed.
“Bengaluru was destroyed by the Congress. It was responsible for encroachments, for closing Rajakaluves, and for resorting to rife corruption at the same time,” he added.
“Congress and corruption are inseparable entities. Given the extent of scams and scandals that happened under their leadership, he said that Congress leaders have obtained PhDs in corruption.
