Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa on Sunday October 9 said that Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra” has no value as his party will never come to power in State.
Speaking to mediapersons in Haisandra village, he said, “Except for one or two places, your (Rahul Gandhi) party is becoming less and less prevalent across India. It is in some way breathing in Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi is thus saying whatever comes to his mind, but it is useless.”
He was responding to a question regarding the possible impact of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on the next Assembly elections.
“In Karnataka, the Congress will never come to power. The Bharat Jodo Yatra and the State Visit have no value,” he added.
He said that despite Priyanka Gandhi touring Uttar Pradesh during the state’s Assembly elections and fielding many women candidates, the Congress was unable to win two seats.
Yediyurappa responded to Siddaramaiah’s accusation that the BJP engaged in politics of hatred after the name of the Tipu Express was changed to the Wodeyar Express by saying that Siddaramaiah enjoys appeasing Muslims, which is why he spoke in such a way.
“However, the decision to change the train’s name has been well received by the nation and the State. No one is hurt for changing the name of the train barring a few people like Siddaramaiah, he added.
Yediyurappa said that he and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai would begin a tour of all 50 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka on Tuesday.
