Bengaluru: A special court in the City for National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases has denied the bail pleas of two persons from the city who were arrested in 2020 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
The two suspects, Zabiulla (25) and Sayed Fasiur Rehman (38), were arrested in 2020 along with 20 other persons on suspicion of involvement with the terrorist group IS and the planning terrorist attacks in India.
The two accused had appealed for bail before the court, claiming that the allegations against them had to be withdrawn as no chargesheet had been filed against them under Section 15 of the Act.
Judge Gangadhara C. M., who heard their bail plea noted that both of them had earlier applied for bail separately and that nothing had changed since then. Their bail plea, which made the same statements, was denied earlier.
The accused are suspects of engaging in terror activities, including one that targeted some leaders in Bengaluru and incited communal violence. The investigation revealed their contact with handlers in Pakistan.
