Bengaluru: A fast-track court has given a death sentence to a man who had unnatural sex with a one-year-old boy and murdered him in 2015.

As per the reports, Murthy, a resident of the Yeshavantpur slum area of Karimani, was charged with killing the boy and indulging in an unnatural sexual act with him.
Judge K. N. Roopa sentenced the accused to death for the crime of murder under Section 302 of the IPC and to life imprisonment for an unnatural sexual act under Section 377 of the IPC, along with a fine of Rs. 50,000.

Under the POCSO Act, he was also given a life sentence.

The accused man and the victim’s father knew each other. The father of the child entrusted the accused with the task of taking care of his son as he had some urgent work to attend to on September 12, 2015, at 2.00 pm.

Later, the accused brought the child to a deserted area near Yeshwantpur where he committed the crime.

The accused became frightened as the child’s cries drew attention from the public and killed the child.

Following an investigation, the police filed a chargesheet and submitted it to the court.
