Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister S. M. Krishna who is considered the architect of modern Karnataka retired from active politics.
“I am now 90 years old. I can’t be like 50 years old. So, I decided to quit active politics,” he said.
He also informed that he didn’t bring this to the notice of BJP Central leadership yet.
According to sources, Krishna wanted to extend support to Congress in the 2023 State Assembly election to enable Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar to consolidate his Vokkaliga votes. As DKS who was once Urban Development Minister in his cabinet wants to become CM by winning maximum seats in Vokkaliga belt. Krishna is likely to use his connections to consolidate support on his behalf.
