Bengaluru: The formation of Dr. K. Shivarama Karanth Layout, at a revised cost of Rs. 5,337 Crore, has been approved by the State Government.
The Urban Development Department approved to build housing on 3,546 acres, spread among 12 guntas, and 17 survey numbers in several villages, stated an order issued on Friday July 8.
Of the total area, 45 per cent should be set aside for parks, civic amenities, and roads. The remaining land should be developed into sites, with 40 per cent going to landowners and the remaining to the Bangalore Development Authority.
The Shivaram Karanth Layout has been the subject of several petitions. The court had warned to summon the Chief Secretary during the previous hearing if the State Government did not grant administrative approval for the construction of the Shivaram Karanth Layout within two weeks.
According to the status report submitted by the BDA Commissioner in May 2022, the revised proposal for the issuance of a tender notification has been submitted to the government for approval. It also stated that new tenders will be invited in packages as soon as administrative approval has been given. The court wanted to know why the approval was not given yet.
