Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa said on Saturday September 24 that the government will suitably compensate for the crop loss owing to the heavy rains, which severely affected the agriculture sector.
“Crop loss to the tune of Rs. 26,000 Crore have occurred in the country, however, crop compensation to the tune of Rs Rs. 1 lakh Crore have been disbursed by various insurance companies,” said Yediyurappa while addressing a gathering at Sirigere village during a memorial ceremony in honour of Jagadguru Sri Shivakumara Shivacharya Swami of Sri Taralabalu.
He further said that during his time as Chief Minister, fund of Rs. 565 Crore were released for the Bharamasagara lift irrigation project and Rs. 725 Crore were released for the Jagaluru lift irrigation project, which made the region water-sufficient.
