Bengaluru: A hotelier was cheated of Rs. 15 Lakh by a gang in Majestic area on Sunday June 12.
It is said that owner Swami Chicken Chettinad Hotel in Tamilnadu, Muruganatham was cheated by one Arjun under pretext of selling gold at cheaper price. Allegedly, gang member Arjun visiting the hotel at Chennai and praised the taste of food of the hotel with Muruganatham. Few days back he informed the owner that he got a gold beads chain while digging sump at home. He also gave sample of two beads to him for checking. After checking, it was found to be of pure gold, and hence Muruganatham asked him to bring the chain to race course in Chennai.
Upon checking four beads of chain it was again confirmed that it was pure gold. Then the cheater called Muruganatham and asked for Rs 25 lakh for one kilo beads. The gang was called to Bengaluru to take beads. Muruganatham arranged Rs. 15 lakh to buy beads as he had no money to come to Bengaluru.
The three members handed him over the beads packet weighing 600 grams after collecting Rs. 15 lakh at KSRTC third gate in Majestic. Upon checking Muruganatham found that it was fake gold and filed a complaint at Upparapete Police Station. The police are searching for the accused.
