Bengaluru: Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer R. Latha, said awareness activities should be intensified for the upcoming general elections. EVM demonstrations should be conducted at all polling booths to create awareness among the public voters about the voting process, she stressed.
She was speaking after inaugurating a training programme on the use of EVMs and VVPATs for Nodal Officers, Revenue Inspectors and Project Development Officers of the District at the District Administration Bhavan in Beerasandra here. “They should be taken safely and informed to the voters in all urban and rural areas across the District as per the Commission’s guidelines,” she said. The training officer, staff should go to the people with the right information, she added.
“The procedure of EVMs and VVPAT machines, methods of ascertaining the votes cast in the VVPAT machines and so on should be given through demonstrations. Sweep activities should be undertaken differently and the importance of voting should be made aware of the importance of voting,” she said.
