Bengaluru: State BJP President and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the people of the State should prioritise Love Jihad over small concerns such as ‘road, gutter, drain and others’, which invited strong objection from Opposition Congress.
Speaking at the launch of Booth Vijay Abhiyaan on Monday January 2 on Monday in Mangaluru City, Kateel welcomed the PFI ban and added that this has helped save the lives of several Hindu activists. And therefore, he continued by saying that ‘I have asked the Party Cadres to talk about Love Jihad as an issue to stop young lives being lost during Assembly elections and not small issues such as roads and drains.’
Strongly objecting to this statement, Congress immediately tweeted a video of Kateel’s speech and stated that State’s development, education and related issues are small for BJP. It’s a shame that BJP does not want to talk about Development, the tweet added.
It can be recalled that addressing BJP workers on Monday, Kateel alleged PFI was unruly and hence banned in State. “Had the PFI not been banned, today we wouldn’t have BJP Leaders Monappa Bhandary, Hari Krishna Bantwal or MLA Vedavyas Kamath. There would have only been a garland over their photos.”
