Bengaluru: Three full-body scanners will be available to passengers at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) for the first time since the firm’s inception in 2008, allowing for a faster and safer flight experience.
Passengers won’t have to be checked with hand-held metal detectors after going through the door-frame metal detector.
The Rs. 5,000 Crore Terminal was shown to a media delegation, which included the security clearance area with these scanners attached.
According to sources, each scanner and the related equipment, which were bought from Rohde & Schwarz, are expensive and runs into crores. The 17 door frame metal detector scanners will eventually be upgraded to full body scanners.
