Bengaluru: An elderly man has turned himself in to the police after killing his son with iron dumbbells at Devalapur in the Hoskote subdivision within the limits of the Anugondanahalli Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Thyagaraj (38). Muniswamy (65) is the victim’s father.
According to sources, Thyagaraj is a daily wage worker and he allegedly threatened his parents for money to buy alcohol.
His parents left the house and began staying with their daughter since they could no longer tolerate his torture. However, Thyagaraj continued to harass them by visiting his sister’s house. The victim is also accused of beating his elderly parents if they did not give him money.
The Muniswamy killed his son and then went to the police with the blood-stained dumbbells. He has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Thyagaraj and his father got into an argument on Friday afternoon and his father killed him by hitting his head with the dumbbells, informed police. A police team arrived on the scene after he turned himself in and shifted the body to a mortuary.
The police said that they learned about the victim’s harassment from the other family members after speaking with them. A murder case has been registered under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code by the Anugondanahalli police of the Bengaluru Rural Police.
