Bengaluru: A mental health centre inmate who had fled from the facility on Sunday August 14 at midnight has been caught by the Karnataka police.
The escaped inmate was captured by Karnataka police on Monday, and a team of Kerala police officers is expected to return him to the facility by noon, informed police.
The escape of the inmate, 23-year-old Vineesh, who is charged with murder, was only found on Monday morning. Drisya, a 21-year-old native of Perinthalmanna, was stabbed to death by Vineesh in June 2021, purportedly for refusing his marriage proposal.
On Friday August 12, he was taken to the mental hospital after trying to commit suicide in the Kannur Central Jail.
According to sources, Vineesh fled when fire and rescue workers were helping another prisoner whose ring became stuck on his finger on Sunday night.
