Bengaluru: Metro’s 900-metre underground tunnel work completed

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metro has completed the tunnelling construction for a 900-meter underground section between Cantonment Railway Station and Pottery Town Station in East Bengaluru.

The section of the Gottigere – Nagwara line of the Bengaluru Metro, which is still under construction, includes the underground section.

Officials from Bengaluru Metro reported the achievement in the Pottery Town tunnelling work on the morning of August 18. According to Namma Metro officials, the tunnelling, which began on February 15, 2022, took 184 days to complete.

For the underground tunnel work, the Vindhya Tunnel Boring Machine was used. 1,755 metres have been tunnelled by the TBM Vindhya as part of Bengaluru’s Metro construction. The Metro’s underground section makes use of TBM Vindhya and eight more TBMs. Between Gottigere and Nagwara, 13.76 km of the 21.25 km Bengaluru Metro Pink Line will be underground.
