Bengaluru: Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Forest Umesh Vishwanatha Katti died of heart attack at a private hospital at 11.30 pm on Tuesday September 6.
According to the sources, around 10.30 pm, he sustained a heart attack at his residence in Dollar’s colony. Even though he was rushed to a private hospital with in the next 15 minutes, he didn’t survive.
Katti (61) had earlier survived two cardiac attacks. According to his family members, he arrived from his native Constituency Hukkeri in the evening. He developed chest pain after dinner.
8 time MLA, Katti lost election only once. He changed six parties. He was a strong proponent of a separate North Karnataka State.
His father Vishwanatha Katti also died of a cardiac attack while taking oath as an MLA in 1985.
Karti’s funeral will be held on Wednesday September 7 in his native village.
