Bengaluru: Former Minister P. G. R. Sindhya is likely to be Congress candidate from Padmanabhanagara against Revenue Minister R. Ashok.
According to the sources, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumarhas proposed his name for the constituency.
According to the sources, in the Party Screening Committee Meeting held on the night of Thursday March 30, Shivakumar proposed his name which was accepted by all including Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah without any objections.
Sources pointed out that Sindhya has a good name among the educated voters and prevail against R. Ashok.
“This move will also help the Congress to influence Marata voters across the State including Belagavi, Bidar, Yadgir and other districts where Marata voters are in a good number and Sindhya is still the tallest leader of the community,” explained a Congress Leader.
